After spending my own money promoting a product online without making a single sale, I started thinking more seriously about the advertising ecosystem—and who actually benefits from it.We look at reporting about the revenue social media companies generate from scam advertisements, the role of influencers and affiliate marketing, and the incentives that can allow deceptive content to thrive. What if the biggest threat to humanity isn't AI—but us?

This week on This Week in My Headphones, I'm connecting three very different podcast conversations around one big theme: Conversations About Humanity.

From our fear of rejection to the unintended consequences of social media and the growing influence of artificial intelligence, these conversations raise a bigger question: Are we doing enough to make the world we're building a better place to live?

    IN THIS EPISODE

    1. Fear of Rejection & the Courage to Be SeenInspired by Mel Robbins' conversation with business professor Marina Cooley, we explore why the fear of criticism, failure, and being ignored keeps us from pursuing opportunities—and why we need to stop letting other people's opinions make our decisions for us.

    2. Technology, Social Media & the Incentives Behind ItTristan Harris, former Google design ethicist and co-founder of the Center for Humane Technology, discusses the dangers of building technology around attention, engagement, and competition. What happens when systems designed to connect us begin exploiting our vulnerabilities instead?

    3. Eric Weinstein, AI & the Responsibility of People in PowerMy Podcast of the Week is Eric Weinstein on The Diary of a CEO. We get into AI, the future of work, humanity's ability to manage powerful technology, and my frustration with influential people who point out problems without offering enough solutions.

I don't agree with everything Weinstein says, and I definitely have a few things to say about it. The question isn't simply whether AI will change the world. It's what we're going to do about it—and who's willing to take responsibility.

PLUS: An update on the Gypsy Rose story from last week's episode, a change of perspective, and a couple of other podcasts worth checking out.

THE BIG TAKEAWAYI'm more afraid of what people might do to each other than I am of what AI might do to us.We can't all influence world leaders, but we can influence our families, our workplaces, our communities, and the people around us. We can learn to adapt to new technology without losing sight of the humans it's supposed to serve.

Maybe it's time to stop talking about how insane everything is and start having conversations about what we can actually do to make things better.

    👇 JOIN THE CONVERSATION

What worries you more: the future of AI, or how humans will choose to use it? And what responsibility do ordinary people have in shaping that future?

Leave a comment, share your perspective, and recommend a podcast I should listen to next.

I'm Kevin T., a truck driver who listens to a lot of podcasts. I don't review everything I hear. I look for the ideas, connections, and conversations that make me stop and think—and share where they take me.

🎧 This week, my headphones took me from one of the strangest true-crime stories in the news to some surprisingly powerful life advice—and a John Cena story that will make you think twice before taking a stranger’s drink!

🕵️ The Gypsy Rose Rabbit Hole: Ken Urker’s shocking death has reignited public interest in Gypsy Rose Blanchard. I walk through the complicated history, the latest reports, and the questions surrounding the case. Fair warning: I put on my tinfoil hat for a few minutes, but speculation is speculation, and the investigation is ongoing.

💪 LL Cool J on Becoming Better: What separates an amateur from a professional? Why do we give up when things get uncomfortable? And are we ever really too old to chase a dream? Two clips from LL Cool J offer a powerful reminder that growth doesn't have an expiration date.

🤮 John Cena’s Puke Burger: The WWE legend shares a wild, vulnerable story on What Now? with Trevor Noah that reminded me of one of my own spectacularly disgusting moments from my younger years.

🎙️ My Five Favorite Podcasts You Rarely Hear Me Talk About: Bad Friends, Brooke & Jeffrey in the Morning, How I Built This, Ray William Johnson: True Story, and 48 Hours.

This week, I fell down a very deep rabbit hole.

It started with an episode of Diary of a CEO featuring WeWork co-founder Adam Neumann, and before I knew it, I was listening to podcasts, watching documentaries, digging through timelines, and trying to understand how a company once valued at $47 billion could unravel so spectacularly.

WeWork's story has everything: billion-dollar investments, massive ambition, questionable decisions, cult-like company culture, ego, financial chaos, and a founder who somehow managed to walk away with hundreds of millions of dollars while the company collapsed.

But the more I dug into the story, the more I became interested in something beyond WeWork itself: the relationship between the visionary and the voice of reason.

Adam Neumann was the big dreamer. Co-founder Miguel McKelvey was the grounded builder. Together, they seemed to make an incredible team—until they didn't.

And honestly, I recognized a little bit of myself in both of them.

I'll also revisit a clip from Rick Rubin about AI and creativity, where he makes the argument that "the creativity is in the prompt." My take? AI can be the storyboard, but you're still responsible for making the movie.

So this episode is part WeWork deep dive, part business lesson, part personal reflection—and, as usual, a collection of things I've been thinking about after spending way too much time listening and researching.

Welcome to This Week In My Headphones.

This Week In My Headphones, I’m going in a LOT of different directions—but somehow, they all seem to lead back to the same question:

Who are you really, and what are you supposed to do with your life?

After listening to 36 podcasts over the last two weeks, I found myself coming back to a few big themes: wisdom, authenticity, creativity, happiness, failure, purpose, and betting on yourself.

I dig into conversations with Steven Bartlett, Arthur Brooks, Grayson Hart, Rick Rubin, and Druski, including ideas about the path to wisdom, being “ruthlessly authentic,” finding true happiness, and what it means to actually invest in yourself.

I also talk about upgrading my studio, getting onto more podcast platforms, experimenting with YouTube, investing money and time into myself, and why I’m choosing to build this thing before I have sponsors, advertisers, or even monetization.

🎧 This Week In My Headphones is my weekly deep dive into the podcasts, conversations, ideas, stories, and rabbit holes that made me stop, think, laugh, question something, or want to learn more.

If something in this episode makes you think, “Wait… I want to know more about that,” then I’m doing this right.

  • Episode 5: Step Away From the Edge — Depression, AI, Government & Finding What’s Next

Episode 5 — I Have Everything… So Why Am I Still Looking for More?

This week in my headphones took me from some pretty dark places to a surprisingly positive conclusion.

Depression. Tragedy. Conversation. Personality types. Government spending. Trump's proposed $5,000 dividend. Surveillance. AI. And somehow… motivation.

I start with a conversation about depression that hit me harder than I expected. I've struggled with depression on and off throughout my life, and I've learned that sometimes the lowest points aren't the end of the story—they can be the moment right before you discover what's next.

That got me thinking about this podcast itself. I have a job, a house, a wife, kids, financial security… so why do I still feel like I need to build something new? Maybe we're not really designed to simply arrive at “I've got everything” and stop. Maybe we need another challenge, another project, another thing to chase.

For me, right now, that thing is This Week In My Headphones.

From there, I dive into Vanessa Van Edwards' ideas about having better conversations and ask my AI a very important question: What fictional character is most like me?

Then we get into government spending and Trump's proposed $5,000 dividend, before heading into the increasingly strange and scary world of AI and what happens when artificial intelligence starts changing the rules faster than we can keep up.

And somehow, I manage to turn all of that into a motivational pitch.

That's kind of what this show is about.

I don't review every podcast I listen to. I pull out the conversations, arguments, stories, ideas and moments that made me stop, think, laugh, question something, or grab my phone and take a note.

  • Episode 4 - Everything You Know Is Wrong: AI, Money & The American Dream

I listened to 18 podcasts this week, and somehow they took me from particle physics and things that supposedly shouldn’t exist… to 21-year-old AI millionaires… all the way to one much bigger question:

Is the American Dream still alive?

This week on This Week in My Headphones, we’re talking AI again—but this time I wanted to get practical. What AI tools are people actually using? What can they really do? And with people claiming AI has made it easier than ever to build something, make money, and completely change your career, are we entering a new era of opportunity—or something else entirely?

I’ll also get into the newest Golden Ticket winner on Kill Tony, share my Podcast of the Week—Andrew Huberman's appearance on The Diary of a CEO—and an idea I’m kicking around for a future Protocols study-group podcast.

Then, for the first time, I’m joined by a guest.

Kari Kennedy, a 20-year veteran of banking and finance, joins me to tackle a theme that keeps showing up in my headphones: What does the American Dream actually mean in 2026, and is it still achievable?

We talk homeownership, building wealth, economic mobility, financial freedom, creating a better life for your kids, and whether “work hard and you’ll get ahead” still works the way we were taught it does.

Plus: CERN physics, ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Seedance, Grok Bot, Nvidia, AI entrepreneurs and plenty more from the 18 podcasts that made it into my headphones this week.

This Week in My Headphones with Kevin T.

  • Episode 2 - We Don't Know What Happens Next - Pete Buttigieg on AI, Thomas Campbell on Simulation Theory, and Mel Robbins make 35million

What will the world look like in 2040? Better Question: What do we WANT it to look like?

This week my headphones took me from AI replacing jobs and whether truck drivers might actually be protected from automation... to aliens, life on Mars, consciousness, remote viewing, and whether we're all living in a simulation.

Along the way, everybody apparently decided to talk about The Odyssey, Rick Rubin made me rethink how I'm approaching this podcast, and Time Dillon had me asking how the hell Mel Robbins makes $35 million a year.

Then I actually listed to Mel do what she does best.

Okay, Mel. I get it now.

Plus: Nadia Drake and the search for aliens/colonizing Mars, Thomas Campbell going ALL IN on Simulation Theory, Neil deGrasse Tyson wanting absolutely nothing to do with it, Pete Buttigieg on AI and the American Dream, and a new podcast discovery I'm excited to keep listening to.

AI. Aliens. Consciousness. Creativity. The future of work. And somehow, The Odyssey.

This Week In My Headphones got weird.

  • Episode 1 - The Podcast that Accidentally Started THIS Podcast, AI, and Blue Collar Jobs

I finally stopped thinking about starting a podcast and actually hit record.

Welcome to the first episode of This Week In My Headphones - a show about my love of podcasts, the conversations that stick with me, the rabbit holes they send me down, and the completely unexpected connections I find along the way.

This week took me everywhere: Seth Godin and Mel Robbins got me thinking about getting out of my own way and finally starting this show; Bad Friends and Kill Tony kept me laughing; Tim Dillon, Fei-Fei Li and Mike Rowe somehow collided into a much bigger conversation in my head about AI, humanity, work, and the future my kids are growing up in; and Tucker Carlson sent me down a political rabbit hole that led to Ben Shapiro , Bill Maher... and somehow Mike Rowe again.

I also listened to Hunter Biden in a long-form conversation that wasn't quite what I expected.

I'm not here to review podcasts or summarize three-hour conversations. I'm here to talk about where all those conversations took me.

If you heard something this week that made you laugh, taught you something, pissed you off, changed your mind or sent you down a rabbit hole, send it my way via comment below or email me at [email protected]

Maybe it will end up in my headphones next week!

I listen to a ridiculous amount of podcasts every week—comedy, science, politics, health, technology, motivation, long-form interviews, and whatever else catches my attention.
