Folks, with all the talk lately about the U.S. potentially taking serious action against the cartels down in Mexico, it’s time to get honest about the possibility of retaliation right here at home. Cartels aren’t just a rough bunch of guys south of the border—they’re intelligent, well-funded operations with the history, capability and ability to disrupt everyday life, especially if they feel threatened!

Here’s what you need to know and what I recommend you do:

* Take Personal Security Seriously: If you’re not already, start carrying legally where it’s allowed. Get quality training—don’t just buy a holster and call it good. Make sure your family knows safety protocols so nobody is left guessing if things get dicey. * Prepare for Power Grid Disruptions: Our electrical grid has vulnerabilities and the Cartels know it. They have attacked power grids in Mexico in the past and could do so here as well. * Stay Situationally Aware: Cartels could strike any number of “soft targets”: public gatherings, infrastructure, community spaces. * Consider the Ripple Effect: Don’t ignore the risk that cartels might collaborate with extremist groups here in the US. My goal here isn’t to scare anyone, but to open your eyes and get you ready. Many people think that all of the violence will stay south of the border and wont effect us here at home. I do not think that will be the case.
