"Every time he tries to work out, it's bothersome," Davidson told the Blue Jackets website. Clarkson, 32, played in 23 games last season, missing time because of the injury, among other ailments. He had two goals and two assists. Gauthier, chosen No. 21 in the 2016 NHL Draft, scored twice in the second period when the Hurricanes scored three unanswered goals to take a 5-1 lead. The event will feature 42 of the top U.S.-born players eligible for the 2017 NHL Draft who were picked by USA Hockey in conjunction with NHL Central Scouting. "This event provides some of the best U.S. players eligible for next year's NHL draft the opportunity to showcase their talent on a national stage," said Jim Johannson, USA Hockey assistant executive director of hockey operations. The teams will be coached by Hockey Hall of Fame member Mark Howe and United States Hockey Hall of Fame member John Leclair. Kronwall had surgery on his right knee in January and injured his left knee in March. Kronwall was unable to play for Team Sweden at the World Cup of Hockey 2016. He had arthroscopic surgery on his left knee on Jan. 18 and missed 15 NHL games, and sat out three games in March because of a sprained right knee. Financial terms were not released, but TSN reported an average annual value of $2.5 million. The No. 5 pick in the 2011 NHL Draft, Strome finished with eight goals and 28 points in 71 games last season, a decline from the 17 goals and 50 points he scored in 2014-15. He had four points in eight Stanley Cup Playoff games to help the Islanders advance to the Eastern Conference Second Round, their first playoff series victory since 1993. The season-ticket drive began in February 2015 with a goal of 10,000 deposits. More than 5,000 tickets were sold within two days and 9,000 season tickets were sold within a month of the launch, according to the franchise. Las Vegas will play at T-Mobile Arena, which has a seating capacity of 17,500 for hockey games. • Forward Tomas Fleischmann on Monday accepted an invitation from the Minnesota Wild to attend training camp on a professional tryout. Fleischmann, 32, has played 11 NHL seasons, most recently with the Chicago Blackhawks, who acquired him and forward Dale Weise in a trade with the Montreal Canadiens for forward Phillip Danault and a second-round pick in the 2018 NHL Draft on Feb. 26. Fleischmann also played parts of four seasons with the Washington Capitals and one with the Anaheim Ducks, under Wild coach Bruce Boudreau. Fleischmann has 137 goals and 335 points in 657 NHL games with the Capitals, Colorado Avalanche, Florida Panthers, Ducks, Canadiens and Blackhawks. He scored NHL career highs of 27 goals and 61 points for the Panthers in 2011-12. • Joffrey Lupul starts training camp on injured reserve. Maple Leafs forward still not ready to go after sports hernia surgery in February • Anaheim Ducks forward Rickard Rakell will need two weeks to recover after having surgery to remove scar tissue resulting from an appendectomy. Rakell, 23, was hospitalized in Sweden after he was scratched by Team Sweden from a World Cup of Hockey 2016 pretournament game against Team Finland on Sept. 10. Rakell, a restricted free agent, had 20 goals and 23 assists in 72 regular-season games, and a goal and an assist in seven Stanley Cup Playoff games for the Ducks last season. • Forward Tyler Seguin has a hairline fracture in his heel and his status for Dallas Stars training camp will be re-evaluated in a week, general manager Jim Nill said Saturday. "Upon returning to Dallas [on Friday], Tyler Seguin underwent an MRI that detected a hairline fracture in his heel," Nill said. Seguin sustained the injury playing in a World Cup of Hockey 2016 pretournament game for Team Canada on Sept. 9 against Team USA.
