Each could have become an unrestricted free agent on July 1.   Winners? Miller was given a five-minute charging penalty and a game misconduct.  Burmistrov, who gave a thumbs-up sign as he left the ice, was taken to a hospital. The Coyotes said he was treated and released. Arizona next plays at the Buffalo Sabres on Thursday.  Burmistrov, 25, has one goal and eight assists in 19 games with the Coyotes after being claimed off waivers from the Winnipeg Jets on Jan. 2. He had two assists in 23 games with Winnipeg. ForwardJesper Fast of the New York Rangers will miss 2-3 weeks with an upper-body injury sustained during a 4-1 loss to the Washington Capitals on Tuesday.  Fast played 14:08 against Washington but left the ice after a hit by Alex Ovechkin in the third period.  Minnesota Wild forwardsZach Parise and Jason Pominville were diagnosed with the mumps on Monday and are expected to miss at least five days.  Parise, 32, and Pominville, 34, missed the Wild's 5-4 overtime win against the Los Angeles Kings at Xcel Energy Center. Minnesota has three games in the next four days, including at the Winnipeg Jets on Tuesday (8 p.m. ET; TSN3, FS-N, NHL.TV).  Wild coach Bruce Boudreau said assistant Scott Stevens is also showing symptoms.  Parise has 28 points (14 goals, 14 assists) in 50 games, and Pominville has 38 points (10 goals, 28 assists) in 59 games this season. Pominville has 12 points (two goals, 10 assists) in his past nine games.  The Vancouver Canucks announced last week that several players (Troy Stecher, Christ Tanev, Nikita Tryamkin, Mike Chaput, Markus Granlund, Anton Rodin and Ben Hutton) were showing signs of the virus. The Wild played at Vancouver on Feb. 4. It usually takes 16-18 days for symptoms to first appear after initial infection.  The Wild said that players who have symptoms are being tested and isolated for a five-day period. Team doctors also provided players with vaccinations.  Several Wild players were diagnosed in 2014, including current defensemen Ryan Suter, Marco Scandella, Jonas Brodin and Christian Folin. All players received vaccines at that time, including Parise and Pominville.  Mumps is highly contagious and is spread by mucus and saliva, usually when an infected person coughs, sneezes or touches surfaces.  (Shake Hands?) Milestones/Records/Honors/Deaths: Winnipeg Jets right wingPatrik Laine, who recorded 8-7-15 in 11 games, has been named the NHL's Rookie of the Month for February. Forsberg led all skaters in goals and points (8-2-10 in 4 GP), including back-to-back hat tricks, as the Predators gained seven of a possible eight standings points to improve their record to 31-22-9 (71 points), third in the Central Division.  Toews recorded multi-point efforts in each of the Blackhawks three games (4-5-9) as Chicago won all three contests to improve their overall record to 39-18-5 (83 points), second in the Central Division.   Gaudreau recorded eight points (2-6-8) in four road victories to propel the Flames (33-26-4, 70 points) to the first Wild Card position in the Western Conference.  https://www.nhl.com/news/filip-forsberg-jonathan-toews-johnny-gaudreau-named-nhl-3-stars-of-week/c-287171826 Claude Julien didn't want to celebrate his 1,000th NHL game prior to his Montreal Canadiens facing the New York Islanders on Thursday at Bell Centre, the same building where he coached his first game 14 years earlier. Julien would have preferred to celebrate afterwards.  "To be honest with you, it's more my personality," said Julien, who asked the Canadiens not to have a pregame ceremony to commemorate the milestone as they had planned to do. "It's great that I've had 1,000 games, but I didn't want to be, I guess before a game, be the center of attention.  "I wanted to just win that game more than I wanted to celebrate it. Unfortunately, that didn't happen."  The Canadiens didn't allow it to happen by displaying many of the same traits that led general manager Marc Bergevin to fire Michel Therrien and replace him with Julien on Feb. 14.  Montreal lost 3-0 to New York, shut out for the fourth time in eight games, committing sloppy turnovers all game and spending very little time in the Islanders zone.  The Canadiens showed a video on the scoreboard during the first television timeout of the first period showing Bergevin and owner Geoff Molson handing Julien and his family a gift to mark the milestone prior to the game. The fans rose and gave Julien a standing ovation, and he gave them a quick wave of the hand before getting back to work, visibly uncomfortable with the situation.  It was a show of support for someone who got his first NHL coaching job with the Canadiens on Jan. 17, 2003, and lost his first game one night later at Bell Centre, 3-2 in overtime against the Toronto Maple Leafs.  By the end of the night, however, those same fans were booing the performance put forth by Julien's team, which ran its record to 2-7-1 in February.  https://www.nhl.com/news/canadiens-claude-julien-moves-on-from-1000th-game/c-287077290 Suspensions/Fines:  Philadelphia Flyers defensemanBrandon Manning has been suspended for two games, without pay, for interference against Pittsburgh Penguins forward Jake Guentzel during NHL Game No. 908 in Pittsburgh on Saturday, Feb. 25, the National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety announced Monday. The incident occurred at 3:26 of the second period. Under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement and, based on his average annual salary, Manning will forfeit $10,833.34. Statement from Anaheim Ducks forwardAntoine Vermette, whose 10-game suspension for violating rule Rule 40.3 (Physical Abuse of Officials) during NHL Game No. 840 in Minnesota on Tuesday, Feb. 14 was upheld on Saturday by NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman. Vermette had appealed the suspension.  "First and foremost, I have great respect for the officials and the integrity of the game. Also, I agree that I deserve a suspension. I should never make contact with an official. At the earliest possible opportunity, I apologized to Mr. Shandor Alphonso. I was trying to get his attention and was not trying to hurt him. However, using my stick was a mistake, and I accept full responsibility for my actions. I certainly hope my track record in the NHL will earn me the benefit of the doubt regarding this incident. I feel a 10-game suspension is excessive and will be reviewing my options. He was a man who made history and helped shape an entire era.  It was no secret that Vladimir Petrov was ill, but even from his hospital bed he keenly followed the fortunes of his beloved CSKA. I made a call to him on the eve of the Army Men’s 70th anniversary.
