Analytical research shows that around 93 percent of all online experiences begin with search. And, this happens because users rarely know what they want! A large proportion may have an idea but search is almost always required - to guide users, to show them what they are looking for and how to retrieve this.

Ask yourself: how do you search for information? Have you ever enclosed a search term within quotation marks to prompt the search engine to search for that specific word or phrase, or used Boolean commands? And, what happens to a query once it enters the search bar? Where does it go and how do we end up with the information we retrieve?
