Thomas Fowler - Mindset, anxiety and complex PTSD -🥇

Listen Later

Welcome to the Make Time to Talk podcast with Thomas Fowler. In this episode, we have a wonderful discussion about our mental health journeys. We cover anxiety, mindset, complex PTSD, and sharing experiences growing up in secondary school as two young men.

Tom opens up about the first time he ever experiences anxiety and the moment he remembered having an attack of anxiety when he was studying French during secondary school. I'm sure for those that have experienced anxiety during their lives this story is really relatable. Anxiety can strike us at any time and often the randomness is what's the scariest. Tom is brave enough to talk about how this impacted him directly and how he just "sat with it". Anxiety is scary but also incredibly treatable. Did you know that over 8 million people in the UK suffer from some sort of anxiety condition every year? If you're worried about your anxiety levels then please speak to a loved one or please seek help from either the NHS or one of the many charities out there. Do not suffer alone.

Is there a STIGMA around PTSD? Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a serious condition that affects millions of people, yet it is still surrounded by stigma and misunderstanding. In this video, we will explore the impact that this stigma has on those living with PTSD and why it's so important to change the conversation. From busting common myths to highlighting the signs and symptoms of PTSD, we will provide practical information and resources to help raise awareness and reduce the stigma associated with this condition. Whether you or a loved one is living with PTSD or simply want to support those who are, this episode is a must-watch.

The intersection of bodybuilding and eating disorders can be a challenging place to navigate, especially when it comes to establishing a healthy relationship with food. In this podcast episode, we will hear from Tom who has managed clients struggling with both bodybuilding and disordered eating and shares his personal journeys of rebuilding a positive relationship with food as a trainer. From overcoming restrictive diets to finding balance in their nutrition and fitness goals, these inspiring videos provide practical insights and strategies for anyone looking to improve their relationship with food and their body. Whether you are a bodybuilder, recovering from an eating disorder, or simply looking for inspiration, this episode is a must-watch.

"I just lost it"? Have you ever had an angry incident at a wedding? Tom explains how certain things can trigger certain emotions for his Complex PTSD. Tom bravely opens up about an incident at a wedding where a particular trigger from a song caused him to act in a way that he wouldn't usually. This is the element of Complex PTSD that we need to help people with. It can affect you in different ways, at different times and the emotions can resonate completely differently for different people e.g. some people may respond with anxiety, some people may respond with anger and some people may not react at all. It is a very personal journey that is 100% down to the individual experiencing it.

Success in both fitness and mindset often requires setting priorities and making certain things non-negotiable. We'll explore the importance of having non-negotiables in all areas and how they can help you stay motivated and on track towards your goals.

Listeners will hear about our personal experiences with anxiety, mindset, health and fitness, complex PTSD, secondary school, speaking with our wives, changing our mindset, and growing up in a world as young men with emotions and hormones running riot. Our discussion is intended to help individuals with their personal journeys and shed some light on things that aren’t normally discussed in “small talk situations”.
