The Governments proposal for a capital gains tax has come under fire in what is one of the biggest issues facing the new coalition.

A capital gains tax would push up house prices as well as significantly increasing rents, according to economic modelling commissioned for the Tax Working Group.

Chief executive of Deloitte Thomas Pippos told Mike Hosking there is a lot of uncertainty over the possible tax being introduced.

"No one really knows what a capital gains tax would do to the price of housing."
