Why are you so tired, even when you're doing everything "right"?
In this follow-up to our Mary and Martha episode, Ben and Brian talk about what it really means to slow down and enter God's rest. Rest isn't a day off. It's the place we live and work from in Christ.
We get honest about how anxiety and discontentment often point to one thing: we don't fully trust God's timing or His goodness. Walking through Hebrews 4, we look at rest as something you keep coming back to, a daily return to God where you stop striving in your own strength and learn to tell the difference between your soul and your spirit so you can follow His will.
Then we get practical. We share simple ways to "pray it out," including picturing yourself handing things to God, journaling, asking Him to show you the root of what's weighing on you, praying for peace, praying scripture, and building a habit of thanks and praise. We also call out religious systems and worldly scorecards that keep us running on empty.
We close by praying for you to seek God, receive from Him, and walk in His rest.

If you'd like a shorter version for show notes or a social caption, I can cut this down to two or three lines.
Ben and Brian discuss the tension between being productive and sitting in Jesus’ presence through Luke 10:38–42 (Mary and Martha). Ben shares his background of nonstop work, fear of laziness, ADHD, and results-driven church culture, while Brian contrasts a “Mary” posture of communion with God. They warn that churches and believers can pursue quotas, growth, and impressive outcomes without God, birthing “Ishmaels” and burning up work not initiated by the Spirit. Using Paul’s decision to leave Troas despite an open door (2 Corinthians 2:12–13), they emphasize being led by God’s peace, surrendering expectations, and trusting God with the next step.

In this episode, the we explain prayer as communication and alignment/agreement with God, not a rigid formula, and discuss how people often misunderstand prayer as only asking for things or needing to “get right” before approaching Him. They describe different kinds of prayer, including thanksgiving and supplication (praying God’s Word), and warn against wrong ways to pray such as doubt, selfish ambition, hypocrisy, and letting emotions like anger create a foothold. They emphasize that through Jesus’ sacrifice believers have direct access to God without needing a priest, while also noting God still uses people. Practical guidance includes starting with honesty and humility, being thankful, practicing silence, trusting God’s promises, and simply beginning to talk to God anywhere, even when you don’t feel like it.
You heard something. Now what?
Most people spend all their energy trying to hear God's voice. But there's a second part nobody talks about — what you actually do when you think He's spoken. Because hearing and obeying are two completely different things. And the gap between them is where most people get stuck.
In this episode of the Hearing God's Voice series, Ben and Brian get honest about what it looks like to actually respond to what you think God has said. The fear of getting it wrong. The temptation to wait until you're more certain. And what happens when you finally just move.
This one is practical, honest, and probably going to step on some toes.

Ben and Brian get honest about the real reasons people struggle to hear God — not the theological ones, the personal ones. The one most people never consider. The ones nobody talks about because they require looking at yourself honestly.
They also get into what expectation actually is, why it's not the same thing as arrogance, and what it looks like in practice before you say a single word in prayer. And for anyone whose life is too full and too loud to even think about making space — they talk about what five real minutes actually does.
You'll walk away knowing what's most likely personally blocking you, what to do about it today, and why the problem is almost never on God's side of the door.

Have you ever thought you heard God — and then wondered if it was just you?
In Episode 3 of the Hearing God's Voice series, Ben shares a story about feeling like God told him to pray for a woman in a wheelchair at Marshalls. He stalled for ten minutes. Finally walked over. She didn't have any legs. He still doesn't know for certain if that was God. And that story is the perfect way into the most practical episode in this series.
Ben and Brian walk through how to actually tell the difference between God's voice, your own thoughts, and something else entirely — including a three-part test you can use on anything you think you might be hearing.
They also get honest about the manufacturing problem — what happens when you want to hear God so badly that your filter starts bending toward the answer you're looking for. And what to do if you've been burned before and you don't trust your own discernment anymore.
You'll walk away with a real framework for testing what you hear, the honesty to catch yourself when you're manufacturing, and the permission to get it wrong without it disqualifying you.

Does God speak through an audible voice? A feeling? A thought? A dream?
In Episode 2 of the Hearing God's Voice series, Ben and Brian get into something most Christians have never been taught — that God doesn't speak the same way to everyone, and that might be exactly why you've been missing what He's already saying.
Brian describes what it actually feels like when God speaks to him. Ben's experience sounds completely different. And somehow they're both right. That contrast opens up the real question: how does God specifically speak to you?
You'll walk away knowing the biblical mechanism behind how God's voice reaches you, why His frequency is personal to you, and a practical way to start figuring out your own channel this week.
Whether you've never heard God clearly or you just want to understand it better — this one is worth your time.

Does God still speak today — or is that just for certain people?
In this first episode of our Hearing God's Voice series, Ben and Brian get honest about the gap between believing God speaks and actually experiencing it personally. Brian shares his face-to-face encounter with Jesus. Ben opens up about a season where he genuinely wasn't sure it worked for him.
You'll walk away with a biblical case you can't argue with, clarity on why so many Christians feel like the line is dead, and one thing you can try this week.
If your prayer life feels one-sided — this is where to start.

You sit down to pray, close your eyes — and something shows up that has no business being there. A dark image. An intrusive thought. A wave of shame. Most Christians white-knuckle through it or give up entirely.
In this episode, Ben and Brian introduce a practice called Cleaning the Canvas: using your imagination and the blood of Jesus to clear what doesn't belong before you pray. Grounded in 1 John 1:7, Revelation 12:11, and 2 Corinthians 10:5, this is a biblical, practical tool for anyone who wants to pray with more focus, freedom, and depth.

Have you been praying for something for weeks, months, or even years, yet the heavens feel like brass? It is incredibly frustrating and confusing—especially when Jesus explicitly tells us to "ask and it will be given." So why the disconnect? Why do so many of our prayers seem to go completely unanswered?
In this episode of Those Prayer Guys, we strip away the abstract formulas and have a raw, honest conversation about the real spiritual and practical reasons your prayer life might feel stalled. We break down the scripture—looking into James 4, 1 John 5, and First Peter 3—to uncover the hidden barriers that block our breakthroughs and explore how a simple shift in posture can change everything.
We look at the common traps we all fall into, and share practical insights on:
The Whining vs. Praying Matrix: How spending more time complaining to others or worrying about a problem actually delays the very breakthrough we are seeking.
The Root of Motivation: Disarming selfish ambition, transactional faith, and the subtle trap of "Western Christianity greed" (Colossians 3:5) that treats God like a genie instead of a Father.
The Power of the Dual-Tongue: Why speaking declarations of faith in prayer, but then speaking curses, doubt, or complaints over your marriage, kids, or finances throughout the day cancels out your prayers (Proverbs 18:21).
The Hindrance of a Fractured Marriage: Looking at 1 Peter 3:7 and why a lack of covenant alignment or treating your spouse poorly completely shuts down the pipeline of answered prayer.
Holy Persistence vs. Meaningless Babbling: The massive difference between the transactional "repetition" of the Pharisees and the faith-filled, relational persistence of the widow in Luke 18.
Stop fighting on an island and wondering if God is ignoring you. Your character as a believer isn’t built on the immediate outcome of your prayers—it’s built on your commitment to show up and stay connected to Him even in the waiting.
Wrap up this episode by joining us in a powerful, 30-second prayer of release—letting go of resentment, expectations, and entitlement, and opening your hands to fully receive what the Father has for you.
