episode 3 of thoughts about things is live. episode 2 was about my journey with discovering systems and mirrors, and in this episode, i share my love for language. all the years i studied different systems, books, from different teachers and experts, i didn’t quite realize why i was drawn to meaning-making systems. i was gathering words. looking for the sentences that make the invisible visible. i think that’s why so many of us loved tumblr and pinterest and the early days of instagram, when we prioritized pinning and sharing quotes. someone else’s words were describing a feeling we didn’t have language for yet. and the relief we got from that was something we didn’t quite understand either.
this episode is about what happens after the relief. the words we find, and repeat, and keep repeating, eventually become the place we live. they become our home, we get comfortable, and then it’s hard to move out. i’m too much. i’m behind. i have to do everything myself. things don’t work out for me. these kinds of sentences innocently start as descriptions and quietly turned into identity. we stop hearing them as sentences or just words, that we’re creating meaning and interpreting words, really. we stop questioning whether they’re still true, or whether they were ever the whole truth.
i talk about why i’m not interested in policing my thoughts or being afraid of my own language, why forced positivity doesn’t land in my body, and what i reach for instead: accuracy. language spacious enough to hold what’s actually happening. there’s a difference between “nobody cares about me” and “i feel unsupported right now,” and that difference changes what becomes possible. we’re just looking for a little opening, not trying to change our entire lives.
some sentences become homes. some become prisons. some become bridges, or reminders, or a way back to yourself.
let me know what lands about this episode. did a particular concept or phrase stand out? i’d love to know.
i recorded episode 2 of thoughts about things, and it’s live now after two months!
this one is about mirrors. astrology, human design, relationships, motherhood, business, all the things i’ve used to understand myself for as long as i can remember. this is a foundational episode, which means that i start to explore specific perspectives and insights that have been helpful for me but don’t necessarily go into depth yet. what i begin to explore in this episode is why i’m interested in systems and relationships and how i use them to not only reflect things to me but how my relationship to those very reflections has evolved over time. i love the feeling when something gives me language for what i’ve been feeling for a long time. but i’m also honest about how it can create limitations for us, whether we’re aware or not. relief can quietly turn into a cage. have you ever found language that expanded you and then you start living inside it? from an adhd diagnosis to a human design type, i think many of these experiences are relatable. this episode is a love letter to every mirror i’ve ever used, and it’s also me working out the line i crossed so many times without noticing. how to let something show you what’s real without handing it your authority. how to keep the language without losing yourself completely.
i also get into disappointment, the old rooms we walk back into on autopilot, and why my life goal isn’t actually to be happy (melancholy stays, i’ve decided).
if you’ve ever felt seen by a chart or a diagnosis or a reading and then wondered why it started to feel small, this one’s for you.i took a little break because i was away in italy for 6 weeks and didn’t get any time to record because the kids were always with me. but i do have three more episodes mapped out, and i can’t wait to share them with you.
you can also check out my podcast on apple or spotify if it’s easier to bookmark and come back to later. please let me know your thoughts, what landed, what came up for you. i’d love to have some conversations because that’ll shape what i share in the future. thank you!
My first real podcast episode, recorded on my birthday after four years of thinking about it and never feeling ready.
I introduce myself and the things I can't stop thinking about: spirituality and the esoteric, motherhood, business, identity, relationships, and the way we communicate. I talk about being raised like the eldest daughter and the wound I still carry around expression. And what it looks like to slowly stop abandoning myself.
This is real time and mid-process, no expertise or history required. You don't have to be a mother to find some of yourself in it, and if you've been waiting to act on your own best idea, consider this your sign to do it imperfectly and let yourself be seen.
