This is devotional thought number 37 in our devotional series, God’s Promises are Sure!
“Seek ye the Lord while he may be found, Call ye upon him while he is near: Let the wicked forsake his way, And the unrighteous man his thoughts: And let him return unto the Lord, and he will have mercy upon him; And to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. For my thoughts are not your thoughts, Neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord.” (Isaiah 55:6–8).
I know I am a writer and all, but permit me to break from the professional writing to make a point: God don’t think like you think! He don’t move like you move. His ways are just different. His thoughts are holy; yours ain’t (at least not until God sanctifies you). We all need to quit playin and embrace this blessing. If God thought like us, we’d be in trouble. Thanks for letting get that off my chest. Now back to our regularly scheduled program.
God has made Himself available to everyone for our salvation. Some of us will accept the blessing. Others will not. I hope all of you will accept. There is a set time of opportunity for all of us to avail ourselves of the blessed opportunity. Seek God now, while there's still time. Experience the fullness of His love. Experience the electric pulse of His Spirit run through you for the benefit of those who do not yet know Him. Let His light shine through you. If you’re wicked, repent! If your thoughts are foul, repent! This is the privilege of all. We all are blessed with the opportunity to forsake that which destroys our relationship with God. Incidentally, God’s biddings are enablings. Since He bid each of us to forsake our evil tendencies and surrender to Him, the empowerment is resident in the bidding. He would never bid us do anything He has not provided power to do. He will have mercy. He will provide pardon in overwhelming abundance. If you move according to His biddings, the result will be abundant pardon. There is no sin or evil plot, which you surrender to God, that He cannot overwhelmingly and abundantly pardon. God has ways to handle our addiction to sin and need for pardon that would blow our minds. He has been transforming helpless sinners into holy saints for centuries, and He’s willing to do it now for you. The mouth of the Lord has spoken.
