“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, And a light unto my path.” (Psalm 119:105).
Have you ever stumbled out of bed late at night in a rush to use the bathroom and run into something on the way? Now you’re awake! Or maybe you have been in a house whose current went out just as you were rounding the corner to the living room and you tripped over that toy your toddler left in the walkway. Moving around in the darkness, even in familiar places, is not fun for most of us. When the light goes out, we are unsure of the path we should take to get from one place to another.
Living without the light of God’s Word is similar. If we attempt to navigate life’s pathways without direct counsel, which is enlightening to our eyes, from the Holy Scriptures, it’s like driving down a winding road at midnight with our headlights off. An avoidable accident is bound to happen, and somebody’s going to get hurt.
There are beautiful, enlightening treasures in the Bible that God has specially crafted for you. In this dark world, littered with obstacles at every step, God is welcoming you to an encounter with Him in the study of His Word, when will remove the blinders from your life and give you sure footing while you navigate the path towards eternity.—L.
