This is devotional thought number 34 in our devotional series, “Stewarding the Heart.”

“And all Judah rejoiced at the oath: for they had sworn with all their heart, and sought him with their whole desire; and he was found of them: and the LORD gave them rest round about.” (II Chronicles 15:15).

When we were children, we used to play a game called hide and seek. The objective was to hide from one person and do your best not to be found. When the seeker got tired or simply could not find those that were hiding, they would shout “Come out, come out, wherever you are!” It was a fun game. Would it have been fun if we were the ones seeking, and the Lord was hiding?

Unfortunately, some people feel like the Lord is hiding from them. The Bible is clear. The Lord wants us to find Him. The reason we must seek Him is not that He is lost, or hiding. We must seek Him because the pursuit of God is salvation. When we put all of our energy into pursuing the person and will of God, He will respond by revealing Himself to us. “Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near:" (Isaiah 55:6). “And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.” (Jeremiah 29:13).

Welcome to the privilege of becoming faithful stewards of your hearts. Manage responsibly, in Jesus’ name.—L. David Harris (www.LDavidHarris.com)
