“And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.” (Colossians 3:17).
WWJD. Do you remember this abbreviation for the motto, “What Would Jesus Do?” It was not as much a question as its punctuation would suggest, as it was an imperative in life and behavior.
In line with the aforementioned 1990s motto and our theme text, I offer a simple exhortation: feel free to think or do, anything Jesus would (obviously, within your sphere of life). Imagine that. You are liberated from hatred, malice, unwarranted anger, evil speaking, destructive habits and eating patterns. You are finally free from guilty feelings, faithlessness, fear, animosity, and slanderous speech. You can finally walk away from the lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes, and pride of life. You are free to love, be peaceable, bear the fruit of righteousness, and seek the best for others before you consider yourself.
By all means let your words, thoughts, and deeds be sweetened by the power of the Holy Spirit whom our Lord sent to fill us with all that He commanded while living on earth. Do all that is worthy of His great name. Refuse all that would dishonor Him. Give thanks for the privilege to walk in His steps.—L. David Harris (www.DavidWritesaLot.com)
