“Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.” (John 14:1–3).
I am so glad our God is the Chief Promise-Keeper, because this world done gone mad and there’s plenty of reason to be troubled, except…
If you believe in God and Jesus Christ whom He has sent, like I do, you see all the turmoil, unrest, poverty, injustice, political corruption, and general evil going on in the world and you want out. You want to get out as quickly as possible, but you realize that there are so many hopeless people around you that you must help. You cannot stomach the idea that people for whom Christ gave His life are choosing death rather than life. So, what to do? Pause.
During one of His tender, heart-to-heart moments with His disciples, Jesus encouraged them to look forward to the day He would return to rescue them from this evil world, once and for all. He promised that He was going away to prepare a special place for everybody who loved Him and that there was plenty of room in His Father’s house. The key to gain entrance into His Father’s multiple dwelling development of custom built mansions is belief. Anyone who believes in God and His Son and surrenders his/her will to them daily, will enjoy eternal life at the moment they surrender and immortality at the Second Coming of Christ. While we are uncertain exactly when He will return, we do have signs to say He is near; even at the door. We have His promise that when we see these things coming to pass, we should look up! Our redemption is fast approaching.
Play. What do we do then, you ask? We need to adopt the perspective of our King. He is not willing that anybody should lose salvation. He does all He can to reconcile people to God. It is our privilege, if we are partakers of the divine nature and recipients of His mercy, to show as many people as possible the highway to God’s Kingdom. He said,
“And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.” (Matthew 24:14). He also said that while we await His return, experience trials, and help others make it through, “But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.” (Matthew 24:13).
If you truly believe in God, do not yield to distress or agitation. Adhere to, rely on, and place your full trust in Him. It will not be long before He that shall come, will come. Jesus will return with a shout! He will return with the voice of the archangel! He will be announced with the trumpet of God! We will have His Father’s name written in our foreheads and we will finally see His face. I look forward to that day, when Jesus will fulfill His promise. How about you?—L.
