This is devotional thought number 63 in our devotional series, “Stewarding the Heart.”

“I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorneth herself with her jewels.” (Isaiah 61:10).

In most every nation of the world, certain people are distinguishable by their uniforms. The police, military, foodservice employees, medical staff, etc. are all clothed in such a way as to clearly show their purpose. The uniforms they wear tell a story about their duties and goals.

The children of God have a uniform as well. It is a heavenly uniform that distinguishes us from everyone else. This uniform demonstrates to anyone looking, that we have a particular purpose. This uniform demonstrates our duties and goals. The uniform issued by the heavenly courts is Christ’s righteousness. While it may not have a particular color outwardly, inner light emanates from those who have it. The power of God is evident in those wearing the heavenly uniform.

As with those wearing earthly uniforms, our spiritual uniforms manifest God’s duties and goals. Those with the righteousness of God are determined to lead others to a right relationship with Him. Our goal, because of our influence, is to lead as many people to heaven as possible. We desire to make an indelible impression on as many people as God sends to us.

As you prepare for the day ahead, be certain that you have on your heavenly uniform, pressed and clean. Remember that you represent the company whose insignia you wear. Represent it well. It may be that those with whom you come into contact, will have just one encounter with the heavenly kingdom, through you. Pray that it will be a fruitful one.

Welcome to the privilege of becoming faithful stewards of your hearts. Manage responsibly, in Jesus’ name.—L. David Harris (http://bit.ly/BQuotable)
