“To the chief Musician upon Gittith, A Psalm of David. O Lord our Lord, How excellent is thy name in all the earth! Who hast set thy glory above the heavens. Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou ordained strength Because of thine enemies, That thou mightest still the enemy and the avenger. When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, The moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained; What is man, that thou art mindful of him? And the son of man, that thou visitest him? For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, And hast crowned him with glory and honour. Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; Thou hast put all things under his feet: All sheep and oxen, Yea, and the beasts of the field; The fowl of the air, and the fish of the sea, And whatsoever passeth through the paths of the seas. O Lord our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth!” (Psalm 8).

Our God, YHWH (blessed be His name) is great! He has founded the universe with His word. He has created with the breath of His mouth. He has molded and fashioned after His divine order. Yet! Yet, our God has been kind enough; beneficent enough; merciful enough to create us with the power to choose love over fear. He has been gracious enough to create us, not to be robots who are subject to programming! No. He has blessed us to experience Him and decide whether we will to love Him and share in His glory forever or not.

This great God has also been good enough to share His dominion. He has given us stewardship of the earthly works of His hands. With this trust we can reflect His power and love within our sphere. Why would such a mighty God (blessed be His name) entrust so great a privilege to us? Is it because we are trustworthy? No. Is it because He loves some more than others? No. Is it because we are intelligent, wise, many in number, or faithful? No. He does so because of His great love. What a mighty God we serve (blessed be His name).

Therefore, as you traverse the untried paths of life, give thanks. Know that all you will encounter and all the responsibilities you bear have all been measured and given to you for God’s purposes and glory. Seek His guidance at every step and do all He instructs. Revel in His love and trust today, In Jesus’ name.—L. David Harris (www.DavidWritesaLot.com)
