“Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world. But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.” (1 Peter 5:7–10).

Give it to Him! He can handle it. What? All.

Like me, you probably have a ton of things all vying for your anxious attention. You’ve got bills, work issues, relationship problems, difficult people, persecution, the news cycle, family dysfunction and more pushing and pulling you into all directions. When you think you have one or two things under control, something else pops up like the bobbing heads in a carnival game. Cares. Anxiety. Worries. Doubts. Problems. What do we do with them all? If we are wise, submissive, and obedient, we give them all to God. Why? God cares for you.

Notice the transition that comes in our theme text right after the apostle teaches us how to deal with life’s burdens. He says that the devil is like a lion seeking its prey! He wants to destroy you. One way he will accomplish his goal if we allow him, is by ignoring the counsel. If we keep our worries and do not give them to God as He has enjoined us to do, we will be devoured. It does not get any clearer than that.

So, take courage because you have a loving heavenly Father who is ready, willing, and available to take all of your cares from you. He has a thousand ways to provide for His children we cannot even fathom. Know you are not alone. There are many others going through similar trials and we all must learn to surrender them to the King, who stands by to give divine aid. He has accepted all who surrender to Him, and after a short while, as you overcome your trials, your faith will be fully settled in heaven and the new earth.

Give God all your cares. You can’t handle them anyway.—L. David Harris (www.DavidWritesaLot.com)
