This is devotional thought number 17 in our devotional series titled, “The Faith I Live By”
“Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.” (1 Timothy 6:12).
Stand up and FIGHT! Stand UP and fight! STAND up and fight! But, your struggle is against sin, self, and the devil. Fight the “good” fight of faith.
Paul taught us that we needed to be revolutionaries against all wickedness, hatred, and doubt. We are to take up arms and fight against injustice, unholiness, and discord. Lest you misunderstand me, give keen attention here: in the same way our enemy, the devil, is spiritual, so are our weapons. The devil is the chief evil spirit, and we are to be empowered by the only righteous and Holy Spirit of God (Blessed be His Name). The weapons of our warfare are NOT guns, explosives, knives, and batons. Our weapons and warfare are guided according to the following counsel, to include its seven implements of spiritual warfare: “Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;” (Ephesians 6:11–18).
As I said before: Stand up and FIGHT! Stand UP and fight! STAND up and fight! But, your struggle is against sin, self, and the devil. Fight the “good” fight of faith.
