“Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.” (Romans 6:4).
Baptism is not only a rite, it’s a privilege! And those who avail ourselves of that privilege will have a right to the tree of life.
Baptism is a symbol of our death to sin and resurrection unto eternal life. We all have sinned. That is no secret. We all need the Savior. That is no secret. However, there are countless people who choose to continue in sin, rather than renouncing it for their own good. In giving Himself to rescue us from sin, Jesus performed the most glorious miracle ever. He died in our place, so we could live with Him forever. In the same way Jesus died for our sins, we must die to our sins. In the same way Jesus miraculously took up His life again, we may live miraculously above sin.
Every step on the believer's journey must be taken by faith in Christ. Baptism is a rite of passage from a life of darkness to one of marvelous light. Every day must be greeted as the privilege it is, to be used by God to help those who continue down the road to destruction.
Won’t you accept the privilege to join with heavenly agencies to prepare others to meet Jesus when He comes?—L. David Harris (www.DavidWritesaLot.com)
