This is devotional thought number 44 in our devotional series titled, “The Gospel According to Paul.”
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.” (Galatians 5:22-23).
In these last days, with the love of many becoming extinct, a gentle spirit is a welcomed one. Terrorism, divorce, ill will, and unforgiveness, have all taken their toll on our relationships. What a blessing it is when we meet someone, clearly actuated by God’s Spirit, who allows the gentle attributes of His character to flow through them. These are the ones who notice when you are feeling sad. These compassionate ones never want to see you in pain. They are soothing to the soul when we are faced with situations that are out of control. Those that are gentle are like a healing balm on the wounds of those in despair.
What a blessing to know that the Lord shares His love, and patient compassion with us through those who are gentle.
I’m not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, are you?—L. David Harris (www.LDavidHarris.com)
