This is devotional thought number 47 in our devotional series titled, “The Gospel According to Paul.”
“Because of Christ and our faith in him, we can now come boldly and confidently into God’s presence.” (Ephesians 3:12, NLT).
Let me just get right to it. You should be ecstatic right now. I just gave you about the best news you could ever hear. You can now come boldly and confidently into the presence of God because of Christ!
Think about all that was lost when Adam chose to sin against his Creator. Adam had dominion over all the earth, and now nature revolts. Adam and Eve had a wonderful relationship wherein they could be completely vulnerable and unashamed, and now we have marital woes and high divorce rates. The climate was perfect, and now we have strange and catastrophic weather conditions all around the world. Adam and Eve could walk and talk with God face-to-face, and now sin and shame separates us. And even when we have confessed our sins and are forgiven, we still have to wait for the day we get immortal bodies so we can stand in His physical presence, lest we be destroyed.
Until that day, God has given us the chief of all spiritual blessings. We can now confidently ask anything in prayer according to God’s will and He will hear us. Until then, we can expect that He will work all things out for our good. Until then, we can know of certainty that God loves us with all His heart, and we can learn to love Him too. Until the day of Jesus’ return, we can be confident that, when we keep faith in Him, that the outcome of judgment where we are concerned, is that we will be found righteous and worthy of eternal life with God, because Jesus is righteous and worthy.
Do you want confidence and boldness in God’s presence? Keep faith in Christ until He returns to take you on a 1000-year vacation in heaven, in preparation to give you your inheritance, the earth made new.
I’m not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, are you?—L. David Harris (www.LDavidHarris.com)
