This is devotional thought number 57 in our devotional series titled, “The Faith I Live By”
Think about it. It is time to give that special man a present for Father’s Day. You realize that his closets and drawers are full, his car is beautiful and fully loaded, and he earns a substantial income. What do you give a man who has everything?
We all must ask this question in regard to the Lord. We read a lot in the Bible about bringing gifts to the Lord. We read a lot about giving Him sacrifices and dedicating our lives to Him but really, what do you give to God who has everything? He even said it. The earth is His and everything in it. Not only that, He owns all humanity.
Rather than leaving us to grope around in the darkness, He told us in the scriptures what He likes. Are you ready? “Offer unto God thanksgiving; and pay thy vows unto the most High: And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me.” (Psalms 50:14-15). “By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.” (Hebrews 13:15). Praise! The answer is praise. What do you give the God who has everything? Give Him sincere, heartfelt, fervent praise. This makes Him happy.
“Praise ye the LORD. Praise God in his sanctuary: praise him in the firmament of his power. Praise him for his mighty acts: praise him according to his excellent greatness. Praise him with the sound of the trumpet: praise him with the psaltery and harp. Praise him with the timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed instruments and organs. Praise him upon the loud cymbals: praise him upon the high sounding cymbals. Let every thing that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD.” (Psalms 150:1-6).
By God’s grace, this is the faith I live by, let this be the same for you, in Jesus’ name.—L. David Harris (http://bit.ly/BQuotable)
