This is devotional thought number 73 in our devotional series, “Essentials of Faith.” Our subject is: What Should I Do With Doubt?

Here’s the question for consideration: As I continue to enjoy this faith connection, what will invariably happen?

“But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.” (2 Peter 3:18).

Look up!

I am a native New Yorker. One of the big jokes of my growing up years was that if you were in Manhattan and just began to look up, others would soon follow suit. After not too long, most in the vicinity would be looking, with absolutely no idea why. Maybe we should try this now, wherever we are; except do so spiritually and tell everyone why. Then we should welcome to look too. At what, or for what should we encourage people to look? “So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.” (Hebrews 9:28).

Jesus is coming soon. We should be looking for Him to arrive at just the right time to put an end to the hatred, racism, politricks, pride, religious bigotry, immorality and all other evils. When He returns, His reward will be with Him. He will give everyone a reward of eternal life or death, according to our faith (or lack thereof).

Can you believe, with all that’s going on, very similar to the days just before the worldwide flood during Noah’s day, that countless people reject the notion of our soon coming King? They scoff at the idea with words and consciousless actions. Many live as though there’s no God in heaven who treasures and enjoins righteousness. And worse, they try to lull people into the malaise of business as usual. However, many others (hopefully, you) are living on a constant growth trajectory, remaining in the faith of our Lord, Jesus Christ. These dear souls receive daily surges of power and mercy as they get to know Jesus better. Their lives testify of His splendour, and His ability make them holy until He comes.—L.
