This is devotional thought number 41 in our devotional series, “Removing the Veil: Sanctuary Living in the 21st Century.”

“After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands; And cried with a loud voice, saying, Salvation to our God which sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb.” (Revelation 7:9-10)

The Lord has always been interested in positive, eternal relationships with human beings. This is one of the reasons He had Moses build a sanctuary that He could dwell in. He wanted to dwell amongst His people and teach them more about His character and love. He knew that the more He revealed it, more people would learn to love Him, and be converted. The end result of authentic conversion is clearly revealed in Revelation. After having overcome the devil through submission to God, His people will one day live in heaven, and shortly thereafter inherit the new earth.
There is a vivid picture of God’s trophies depicted. There is a special group of believers represented in symbolic numbers, denoting that they are few. They are seen as having lived through the worst time in history, right before the arrival of Christ. They will have the seal of the living God, and in heaven will be nearest the throne worshipping God. The multitude that no man can number, of all the redeemed are also seen standing by the throne of God when they get to heaven. The angels worship the Lord and give Him glory, as well. This is an indication of God’s passion. He determined in eternity that all that love Him would be able to experience Him forever, if they remained faithful. One day this will come into fruition. There will soon be an end put to broken relationships. God will allow the natural results of unrepentant sin to run its course for those who insist on continuing on that path. Those who love the Lord will experience levels in relationship with God far beyond what they have been allowed while living in the flesh. We shall all be changed and we will be free to touch God, and speak to Him face to face. Praise the Lord for the relationships that can come through the revelation of Jesus Christ, which is manifest through His high priestly work in the heavenly sanctuary on our behalf.—L.
