This is devotional thought number 17 in our devotional series titled, “O For a Faith That Will Not Shrink.”

“The Lord shall establish thee an holy people unto himself, as he hath sworn unto thee, if thou shalt keep the commandments of the Lord thy God, and walk in his ways. And all people of the earth shall see that thou art called by the name of the Lord; and they shall be afraid of thee.” (Deuteronomy 28:9–10).

“Holy” is not a four letter word. Well, it is, but not that way. You know what I am saying. For some reason, many persons who say they are believers refuse to believe that God is capable of making us holy. It’s more than unfortunate because God often does things in our lives according to our faith. This means that in this context, if we don’t have the faith to believe that Jesus is able to keep us from falling and to present us faultless before the Father, with exceeding joy, we miss out on that blessing. “According to your faith, be it unto you.”

God has high expectations of you. He has made provisions to implant His life-giving seed into your experience, because the only way you can enjoy eternal life is if He lives within you. Not only that, but He wants you to be His ambassador at home, work, on the road, in the taxi, on the bus, at play, in school, and everywhere you go so people can see your lifestyle and find relationship with God too. Isn’t that wonderful? Isn’t it great that God would be willing to make you holy so you can live forever and help others do the same?

If we are to develop a shrink-resistant faith that will not fail when tested, we must cooperate with God as He works to recreate us into His perfect image before Jesus comes.—L. David Harris (www.LDavidHarris.com)
