Thoughts in Worship

Today’s Scripture:
“And the gates of it shall not be shut at all by day: for there shall be no night there. And they shall bring the glory and honour of the nations into it. And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb’s book of life.” (Revelation 21:25–27).
Today’s Observation:
Through incredible imagery John is shown the beauty of living in a city free of sin. If you have lived or been to some of the places I have around the world, and experienced some of the dangers, you will appreciate how much of a blessing this scene is. The gates will just be a beautiful fixture. They will serve no protective function. They will ever remain open for all to come and go as we please. All that might have defiled will have been destroyed. All that might have been abominable will have been destroyed. The only ones present will be heavenly beings and the redeemed saints whose names are indelibly written in the Lamb’s Book of Life, who have been forever sealed in His righteousness.
Do you want to be there? Jesus has gone to prepare a place for you, dear friends. Never allow cherished sins, doubt, trials, or self-centered feelings exclude you from your place in that Holy City. Notice what the prophet says: “Wake up, wake up, O Zion! Clothe yourself with strength. Put on your beautiful clothes, O holy city of Jerusalem, for unclean and godless people will enter your gates no longer. Rise from the dust, O Jerusalem. Sit in a place of honor. Remove the chains of slavery from your neck, O captive daughter of Zion. For this is what the Lord says: “When I sold you into exile, I received no payment. Now I can redeem you without having to pay for you.”” (Isaiah 52:1–3, NLT). Pledge today, that by God’s grace, you will be there.
A Prayer for Your Hearts:
Lord, please help us never to lose sight of you. In the name of Jesus I pray, amen.--L. David Harris (www.davidwritesalot.com)
