Today’s Scripture Promise:
“Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on thee: Because he trusteth in thee.” (Isaiah 26:3).
Today’s Observation:
As we await the Promise of Jesus, the Second Coming, the world all around us is in turmoil. There are disturbing terror attacks, schoolyard shootings, government officials’ indiscretions, and police brutality. The economy is purported to be strong when it is not, and so many have watched their nest eggs (if they had any at all) dwindle to nothing. People we may know; it may even be us, are not eating regularly due to limited funds. This is a basic human need that people in so-called developed countries struggle with, not to mention poorer countries.
Yet, amidst all of this and more, the Lord has promised peacefulness of mind. It’s certainly not that we should be fine with all I mentioned; especially when there are ways we can individually and collectively make a difference. The peace of God comes to those who are determined to keep our focus on that which makes God happy. The peace of God comes to those who delight to do His will and represent Him to others. The peace of God comes to those who are heavenly minded so we can be of some earthly good. We roll up our sleeves and serve while there is yet time and show the love of God to a planet gone mad. The peace of God comes to those who trust God’s Word even during the rough patches when we cannot see His works fully manifest.
Today’s Marching Orders:
Establish a habit to meditate on the life of Jesus recorded in the New Testament books of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. Pay special attention to the closing moments of His life. Ask Him how you might be of service in light of His great sacrifice.—L. David Harris (www.DavidWritesaLot.com)
