Today’s Scripture Focus: “Praise waiteth for thee, O God, in Sion: And unto thee shall the vow be performed. O thou that hearest prayer, Unto thee shall all flesh come. Iniquities prevail against me: As for our transgressions, thou shalt purge them away. Blessed is the man whom thou choosest, And causest to approach unto thee, that he may dwell in thy courts: We shall be satisfied with the goodness of thy house, Even of thy holy temple.” (Psalm 65:1–4).
We are focusing on sin recovery principle number 11 of 12: “We sought God’s presence in our lives and the power to do His will through consistent prayer and meditating upon His Word.”
God is worthy of our praise! When you press pause on your life and recount the many ways He has shown you love, mercy, and power to overcome any trial, it becomes clear that you serve a great God.
Here’s a reason to be thankful: The Bible says that eternal death is the reward of all sinners. Last time I checked that would include you. I realize that I probably don’t even know you so it may seem a bit judgmental of me to call you out like that. However, the fact is, if I call you a sinner, I must also be indicting myself since I, too, am included in the “all” who have sinned. In our theme text, the psalmist underscores the fact that our God is willing to let bygones be bygones. He is ready to forgive and forget. He stands ready to expunge our sin record, no matter what we have done, if we repent. That is a blessing. God is worthy of our praise!
Try this one on for size: God hears us when we pray in sincerity. When was the last time you attempted to get an audience with a world leader? When was the last time you tried to get an interview with a CEO of a multi-billion dollar corporation? If you’ve not ever done so, how easy or difficult do you think it would be to have a sit down with these kinds of high profile people? Although it would be nigh impossible to make this happen for most of us, even if we are well connected, the King of the universe makes Himself available to chat at any time to anyone, regardless of frequency. If you have something to talk about, God is all ears. When you consider all He has going on at any given time, this is a staggering reality—God is available to listen to you. He is worthy of our praise!
Finally, the psalmist highlights the joy it is to be in God’s presence. Do you realize how peaceful it is in God’s presence? There is joy, power, love, holiness, truth, wisdom, and every sacred virtue in God’s presence. There is healing, provision, answers to the most perplexing issues in God’s presence. There is cleansing, the power to mend broken relationships, and wealth in God’s presence. There is rejoicing, the Word, and eternal life in God’s presence. In His presence, we can be satisfied and end our quest to find fleeting satisfaction from this world’s paradigms. God is worthy of our praise!
If we consistently seek God’s face through prayer and listening to His every word, we will live in the fullness of His power and have victory until He comes. God is worthy of our praise!—L. David Harris (www.DavidWritesaLot.com)
