Thoughts in Worship

We are focusing on getting to know God from the perspective of John the beloved.
Today’s Scripture Focus: “The woman saith unto him, I know that Messias cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things. Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am he.” (John 4:25–26).
Have you ever noticed how you or others you know await answers to questions God has answered already? For instance, some young Christian women pray fervently for God to show them whether the young men in whom they are interested are right for them. Oh, and by the way, the men do not believe in God and have no intention of serving Him. Some people ask whether a particular job is God’s will, and come to find out the work requires them to compromise Bible teachings to make a buck. The truth is, there are many times the answers to our questions are right in front of us.
Jesus did a masterful job leading the woman at the well to a fuller knowledge of Him before she even understood that’s what He was doing. It was amazing! He broke down the religious, racial, and societal barriers. He taught her genuine worship principles. He demonstrated her value in the eyes of God before she even recognized what was going on.
The time finally came that she should receive the revelation. The time had come that she should realize that she needed to look no further for truth that to the Man who stood before her at the moment. Jesus finally broke the huge news story to her, that He was the Messiah of whom the prophets spoke. Do you think this was a seminal moment for her? Do you think she had an epiphany that she was having a close encounter with the Almighty (blessed be His name), and could rest her faith in every word He spoke? Absolutely.
I submit to you today that God has arranged such seminal moments for all of us; those moments when we finally realize that we have been begging and crying for answers He has already revealed in His Word. He has arranged the revelation of His will for us to labor though in the power of His Spirit. The one who speaks through Scripture is He. He is revealed in the law, prophets, psalms, epistles, and the Apocalypse for these last days. God has been pleased to reveal so much of Himself through the Scriptures that it can become a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our pathways. God is speaking. Are you listening?—L.
