We are focusing on getting to know God from the perspective of John the beloved.
Today’s Scripture Focus: “The woman then left her waterpot, and went her way into the city, and saith to the men, Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ? Then they went out of the city, and came unto him.” (John 4:28–30).
What’s the best-case scenario? When you really think about it, having a close encounter with God that gives you the confidence to witness to those who have seen the worst of you; that’s the best-case scenario.
As we have said multiple ways over the last several days, Jesus masterfully arranged circumstances so an unsuspecting woman, who was actually trying to avoid the spotlight considering the time of day she went to the well to draw water, could see herself for who she really was, recognize the value God placed upon her life, and have the revelation of Jesus Christ. What could have made that day any better? Let me tell you.
Not only did she have a great time with her savior, but she immediately recognized the call upon her life to give others the same opportunity. And the thing about that was that those to whom she immediately witness were those most intimately aware of her sordid past. She was granted the opportunity to make things right! Talk about best-case scenario. She clearly had a man problem. She was too frisky with too many, so when she went back into the town a changed woman, her testimony was obvious to them. She did not walk the same way she used to walk. She did not talk the way she used to talk. Her eyes were no longer seductive. Her manner became dignified. And all of this because Jesus invested a few short minutes with her that would prove to change her life forever.
I hope you realize that there is a best-case scenario for you, too. Jesus is always looking for a way to impact your life for eternity and then send you into the highways and byways to share what great things He has done for you. Leave no stone unturned. Leave no pathway untraveled. Leave no options off the table as long as God is leading you. Experience your best-case scenario today. There’s no time to lose.—L. David Harris (www.DavidWritesaLot.com)
