We are focusing on getting to know God from the perspective of John the beloved.

Today’s Scripture Focus: “And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.” (1 John 5:14–15).

I am finding that many of us have lost our confidence! Either we have no idea in what to place it or we don’t recognize the power that God has placed in our hands. Some have lost confidence in government. Some have lost confidence in the criminal justice system. Some have lost confidence in so-called love. Some have lost confidence in religion. Some have lost confidence in the principle of confidence itself. Now, what? How does one position oneself squarely in place for a rightly placed confidence boost? I am so glad you asked.

Do you believe God is alive and well? Do you believe that He sees and knows all that is happening on earth? Do you believe that He cares? If you answered these questions in the affirmative, please do also realize that you are well on your way. You see, when we recognize the sovereignty of God, and accept the fact that He is ready, willing, and available to answer our prayers, our confidence is well placed and key in unlocking infinite power into our lives. To the sincere seeker, Jesus gives answers to prayers in the ways we would have prayed them were we as wise as He. He gives us new desires and inspires us to ask according to those new desires. He gives us His Spirit, who knows His mind, to pray for us since we don’t know what to pray for as we ought. He provides us with the divine green light to surrender our will and hearts to Him so any answer He gives will be safe in our lives. We will learn how to yield every thought and action to Him. We will learn to surrender every intention to Him. We will learn to give ourselves into His charge so we can become His ambassadors in every place we find ourselves. Where He leads, we will follow.

This, my friends, is the confidence we can have in Him when we pray with surrendered hearts. Do you need a confidence boost? Pray! I mean, really pray, and open your heart for the best answer you can even imagine.—L. David Harris (www.DavidWritesaLot.com)
