Have you ever wondered what it is like to create new walls for your house after a challenging childhood? Join us for the second part of this conversation as we discuss origin stories with our guest Tom Mellott and how his spending time with animals has helped him heal - both from childhood trauma as well as in his career as a nurse.
Thomas Mellott was born in Needmore, Pennsylvania and was raised on a rural country farm. He grew up in a conservative Christian family and spent his youth around animals. In his own words, “Everything good in me comes from my grandparents and animals teaching me lessons. Animals have saved my life in many ways and continue to be a source of healing and joy for me to this day.” His career has been 25 years of nursing and his greatest joy is meeting the love of his life in 2013, getting married in 2018 and being a dad to the best boy ever, their Goldendoodle, Linus. His goal in life is to live a happy, healthy authentic life and remain grateful and make a difference to those he holds dear.
Highlights: 4.38 reclaiming a spiritual platform and chosen family, 6.43 early influence of his grandparents, 12.26 the importance of selfies and animals, 14.33 doing the work to heal, 16.13 importance of being yourself, 20.38 gay penguins and living your own life, 24.38 make it count.
