Three Geeky Dads

We continue with our Season of the Witch series this week with a look at 2009's Drag Me to Hell. Written and directed by Sam Raimi, it stars Alison Lohman as Christine, a bank loan officer who denies a loan extension to an old woman who happens to be a witch. Now Christine is suddenly forced to find a way to break the curse the old woman puts upon her...a curse that threatens her very soul with eternal damnation.

Our Season of the WItch series continues with a look at 1987's The Witches of Eastwick.

This film stars Cher, Susan Sarandon and Michelle Pfeiffer as three husbandless friends who, on a whim one dark and stormy night, conjure up their ideal man. At that same exact moment, an eccentric and mysterious stranger named Darryl Van Horne (played by Jack Nicolson) arrives in town and despite being crude, brazen and not particularly handsome, manages to seduce each of the three women and in turn, their latent powers blossom...but, all is not what well in the small town of Eastwick. What can the three witches do to rid the town of the malignant evil they may have unwillingly willed into being?

This week, we continue our Season of the Witch series with a look at the 1998 film, Practical Magic. This movie stars Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman as two orphaned sisters, descended from a family of witches. They are raised by their two eccentric aunts in a small Massachusetts seaside town, and are forced to face closed-minded prejudice, an evil ex-lover, and a family curse which threatens to prevent them, and their own children, from finding love, peace and happiness. This week, we had the pleasure of welcoming to the podcast 2 of our absolute favorite people, friend of the show Kexy finally joins us to talk about Hammer Films' The Witches but, before we get into talking about the movie, our good friend Josh Dahlin is also here to tell us all about this year's upcoming Dark Arts Festival.

Hey Daywalkers and Nightstalkers this week, we will be taking a look at this past summer's sci-fi/survival horror film, The End of Oak Street. In the film, Anne Hathaway and Ewan McGregor star as Denise and Greg Platt, the parents of two teenagers whose entire suburban neighborhood (following a mysterious cosmic event) has been mysteriously transported back in time to when dinosaurs ruled the Earth. And now, the bickering Platt family must band together to navigate their now unfamiliar and dangerous surroundings in order to find a way back to their own time.

This week, we're taking a look at DC's summer release, SUPERGIRL! This film may have underperformed, both critically and at the box-office but, we think this film deserved better. You can hear why we thought that way by listening in on the conversation.

So, it's been a minute since we last put out a new episode. We usually just take the month of July off but, as usual, life got in the way again and we were not able to all get back together until just this past week. Anyway, that was then, and now it's a brand new day and...speaking of, we will be talking Spider-Man: Brand New Day along with what we were geeking out about on our summer break so, listen in on the conversation, won't you? Oh, and sorry about the strange hum in the background...we promise it will be corrected before next week's episode!

As we geeky dads prepare for our summer break, we thought it would be a great opportunity to pit two titans of summer camp horror against each other. This week, we will be pitting Friday the 13th against Sleepaway Camp in a slasher mano -a- mano SLUG-fest!

Both of these summer slasher flicks take place at a seemingly serene summer camp until a sinister somebody starts slashing and slaying their way through campers and councilors alike (depending on the film in question of course)!
