Three Keys to Training a Teen

Listen Later

Mom, Dad, in order to get your immature kid to a place of maturity and independence, you need to do three crucial things.
As a parent, you’re training your teen for adulthood. How do you do it? Well, break your training style into three categories: learning, practicing and applying.
When kids are little, they’re learning. This is when you pour into their little lives with lessons, instruction and discipline.
Then, during the teen years, you’re encouraging him to practice what he learned from you. He’ll make mistakes, but who doesn’t when learning a new skill?
Finally, your child will move into adulthood and you allow him to apply what he knows to real-life, real-consequence situations.
Mom and Dad. Ready to train your kids? Remember three words: learn, practice and apply.
