Cosmopolitan (I'm Curious)

1.5oz Citrus Vodka (i.e. Absolut Citron)

0.75oz lime juice

0.5oz Cointreau (or triple sec if you want more sweetness)

1oz cranberry juice 

==Shake with ice, strain, and serve in a coupe glass.

Rum Old Fashioned (Grandpa's Wake)

2oz Aged Rum (i.e. Flor de Cana 7)

0.5 oz vanilla** simple syrup (more if you like it sweet).

1-2 dashes coffee** bitters

==Build in rocks glass over one large cube of ice, stir and serve.

** Other than gin, rum may be the most diverse spirit out there. When I see a spec call for just ‘rum’ I cringe. You have to be more specific. Any recipe should at least specify ‘gold’ or ‘white’ rum. If it doesn’t, I get skeptical about its reliability.

So, vanilla and coffee work well with the rum I used. Taste your rum straight and work with the flavors you taste in your rum.   Maybe some cinnamon syrup instead? Also, plain simple and Angostura bitters will work just great too. I promise.

Coffee Alexander (Montezuma's Mercy)

2 oz Coffee Liquer (Mr. Black is great. Kahlua is… ok.)

1oz Crème de Cacao

1oz Heavy cream

== Shake hard with ice, strain and serve in a coupe glass.
