The Sonship Place

Three Questions Every Temptation Asks Sons · Monday Night Gatherings

Listen Later

Temptation is not a frontal assault. It is a structured interrogation, and every temptation, whether from the flesh or the enemy, runs the same three questions.

The teaching maps those three questions precisely. First, "did God really say?" which is not a question about content but about the truth, authority, and personal weight of what God has spoken. The moment a son starts bending scripture to accommodate what his heart has already decided, that question has done its work. Second, "are you really who?" which does not attack identity directly but attacks its validity, forcing the son to look inward toward his humanity rather than upward into Christ. To question your identity is to question the one who identified you. Third, "will you only serve?" which reframes obedience as deprivation and frames momentary self-satisfaction as reasonable, especially for someone who has been walking faithfully. The teaching then establishes three responses: contentment that removes the appetite the enemy is feeding, the spoken word that replaces a thought with revelation, and flight, because sons do not out-wrestle weaknesses in the presence of what weakens them. The filter for every voice and every leading is consistent. Who holds the lordship, and who receives the glory?

SCRIPTURE: Genesis 3:1, Matthew 4:1-11, Ephesians 6:12, Romans 10:17, Philippians 4:11
