Throwback (w/Hotaka)

Listen Later

This one was more like a time travel episode. Hotaka and I met when we were 15. He was pretty much one of the first people I met and became friends with quickly in the U.S. At boarding school he was always my safe person. As in life, through highschool we steered in different directions at times, but we always found ourselves coming back to each other as if we were together all along. This has translated even to today. In the podcast, which by the way, is pretty muffled and all because I wasn’t able to hear the audio to monitor… I tried to fix as much as I could but you can only fix to a certain point. So excuses about the quality. But, it was never about quality here. To be honest I wouldn’t even mind too much if it wasn’t recorded. These episodes are more like an excuse to have these deeper convos with some interesting people. I am pretty glad that it was recorded though, as I got to relive the moments all over again; pondering, smiling, giggling and reminiscing. Anyway, ye, in the podcast, after we had met after more than a year ago, we got to talk about the younger versions of us. The journey we had to get to highschool, the path it took to get to where we are, and the trajectory to where we see ourselves in the future. I was watching this Ted Talk earlier and it was saying that the number one reason relationships last is low expectations. And I really felt it with the reflection of Hotaka and I’s friendship. They say, if a relationship passes 5 years it’s gonna last a lifetime, but I’m pretty sure I knew it from the beginning.

Appreciate you Hotaka, and glad we got to record a moment in time together. You have been a great friend and believe it or not, you’ve helped me get through some tough times then and even later whenever we hang out and get to see and hear how you’re navigating or seeing a situation warms my heart and helps me see things clearer. All the best bud, here’s to more years to come, {insert chewing sound from that Korean spot that you still remember from our World Religions class}.

Much love,

Pedram
