Throwdown Ep. 17 - "PlayStation Now and Later"
After taking a nice two-week break for the holidays, the Throwdown crew is ready to kick some more ass in 2015. We hope you didn't miss us too much.
After letting you guys know what we've been up to for the past two weeks and briefly going over some news that happened during that time, we dive into our main topic: PlayStation Now. Sony has officially announced the subscription model for the service which is set to leave the Beta phase next week. We break down everything about this service, specifically focusing on how it could potentially have a revolutionary impact on the games industry in the future.
Gaming news is light since not much happened outside of the PlayStation Now subscription news. However, we do talk about the other big story which is Sony's announcement of the PlayStation 4 selling 18.5 million units since launch. We talk about why the system is such a wild success and how even Sony themselves are unsure why their console is doing so well.
Tech news makes a return this week thanks to CES. Some new gadgets were shown off during the Las Vegas event and we talk about what stood out to us. We also discuss how the FCC chief has sided with President Obama on net neutrality with regard to making sure internet providers don't throttle connection speeds for folks.
We finish things off with some good ol' Pop Culture news. Scarlett Johansson has signed on to play the lead role in a live action Ghost in the Shell movie. What do we think about this and the prospect of a live adaption of the anime/manga classic? Lastly, we give our impressions of the Ant-Man teaser trailer. Could this be Marvel Studios' first flop or will we see another Guardians of the Galaxy style miracle?
