<p>Leo the Great was Bishop of Rome, Pope in 440. He saved the citizens of Rome from invaders by his courage, was a wise and eloquent preacher and a brilliant administrator, using the resources of the Church for the good of the people. He spoke often of the humility of Christ.</p>
