Thursday, 6 November 2025 – All Saints of Africa.
Readings at Mass
First Reading: Genesis 12:1–4 – “All the tribes of the earth shall bless themselves by you.”
Responsorial Psalm: Psalm 1:1-4,6 – “Happy the man who has placed his trust in the Lord.”
Gospel: Matthew 5:13–16 – “Your light must shine in the sight of men.”
Main Point:
Be the Light that Reveals God’s Love to the World.
Introduction & Homily:
Today we celebrate All Saints of Africa, men and women who let the light of Christ shine brightly in their lives in faith, courage, and charity.
In the Gospel, Jesus tells us, “You are the light of the world.” A lamp is not meant to be hidden but to give light to others. Just as Abraham obeyed God’s call in the first reading leaving everything behind in trust we too are called to live our faith in a visible way that guides others to God.
Many African saints like St. Charles Lwanga and his companions showed this courage. Their faith was the lamp that illuminated the darkness of fear and sin. We are invited to do the same in our homes, schools, workplaces, and communities.
Concrete Example:
When a person acts with honesty even when nobody is watching, or forgives when it is difficult, that person becomes the “light” of Christ. A teacher who teaches with love, a parent who prays with their children, a student who helps others these are small flames that brighten the world.
The Way Forward:
Ask yourself each day: “Is my light shining before others, or am I hiding it under the basket of fear or laziness?”
Pray for the courage to live your faith with joy and generosity, especially in moments when it costs something.
Summary Verse:
“Your light must shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.” (Matthew 5:16)
Prayer: Lord Jesus, Light of the World, help me to shine your light through my words and actions today. May my life bring glory to your name and inspire others to follow you. Amen.
