Jesus immediately said, “Your sins are forgiven.” The Pharisees criticized Jesus for claiming to forgive sins, saying that only God could forgive sins. They did not understand or want to believe that Jesus was God. Jesus’ response was logical. It is easier to say, “Your sins are forgiven,” than to heal someone. Jesus addressed man’s biggest need. It is not physical healing but spiritual cleansing of sins.
