Tibial Plateau Fracture Recovery
by Gina Baumbach

We share an interview with Gina who had a tibial plateau fracture recovery with the X10. She started on the X10 ten weeks after the surgery when she was very disappointed with her recovery. Within two weeks she solved her knee surgery recovery problem.

My name is Gina. I am a 44 year old mother of three, married, and I sell insurance. I love spending time with my family and friends and I love everything to with water! Swiming, boating, floating...It's my happy place!
I live a pretty active lifestyle, so when this injury took me down it was life changing. I went from being able to do whatever I wanted, whenever I wanted, to needing assistance to do the basics.
My X10 Journey
My journey with X10 is a little different than others. I did not have a knee replacement.
In March I was on a cruise, fell and broke my leg. My break is called a lateral tibial plateau fracture. Basically I broke my leg where it meets the knee. After surgery, involving a 4 inch plate and 4 screws and a lateral meniscus repair I was unable to put any weight on it for over 5 weeks. After that 50% weight and finally on the 23rd of May full weight bearing. I went from a wheel chair, to crutches to a brace and cane.
The pictures below show my progression of me in a wheel chair on the cruise in March to me walking the Jersey shore in June. Couldn't have done it without the X10!

"Within two weeks the X10 did what physical therapy could not do in three months. I considered cancelling the trip to Disney in August before the X10. Now we are going."

Tibial Plateau Fracture Recovery
A tibial plateau fracture occurs at the top of the shin bone and involves the cartilage surface of the knee joint. Recovery from a tibial plateau fracture can take several months. Because the cartilage surface of the joint is involved, the knee must be protected from weight until the fracture has healed. Most commonly patients will be allowed to move the knee joint, but not put weight on the leg for about three months.
