Either when holding the bar for over a decade at Soundwall - one of the reference webzines for the Italian electronic music landscape, working as artistic director for the Roman party RNY or during his two-decade long digging journey, Matteo Cavicchia's life has always been guided by music and the desire to explore and absorb as many artistic stimuli as possible.
Basically Ugly Covers was born in 2023 as an ode to the bad taste for record covers' artworks from back in the day, the surface under which some of the most underrated and funniest gems of (not only) dance music are uncovered.

Β«I donβt really love to focus on a specific genre when I record my mixtapes. I prefer letting the different elements of the tracks I love take control of my flow and create an organic musical journey.
Hot from the press: you can get some vocals, basslines and melodies that have been inspiring me and shaking me the most lately. Much of that influence comes from Pizza Club, a brand-new radioshow alongside old-time partner Kapsalon. Enjoy!Β»
