On Butterflies of Wisdom today, Best-Selling Author, Win C welcomes Tien Eamas. A wizard is practiced at using the elements to create life and magick. Tien Neo Eamas is a modern day wizard, creating life, beauty, magic out of his artwork, his teachings, his alchemy, his consultations and his presence and lessons. His life has been a journey of transformation, from one end of the spectrum to the other, from despair to joy, from self-hatred to deep self-love, from seriousness to comical delight. The first Asian Transgendered man to publicly transition in the Vancouver in the early 2000’s, Tien has pioneered a new vision of freedom from gender constraints, having the courage and audacity to begin a trans conversation that is about creation, celebration, and Joy as opposed to the realities of hardship and oppression. In 2008, Tien created Happy Tranny Day, a day to celebrate Trans people. This event was the first of its kind in the world and has since become the Transgender Day of Celebration that takes place in annually in April. Tien is a silver/goldsmith and alchemist, smithing since 1996 and practicing the mystical arts since 1991. He has a Bachelor of Fine and Performing Arts from Simon Fraser University, Interior Design and Classical Feng Shui Certificates. His mystical and spiritual life training ranges from Buddhism, Law of Attraction, Feng Shui and Chinese elemental studies, pagan and faerie studies, herb and plant magick to personal development training with Landmark Worldwide. He divides his time between Vancouver and the Sunshine Coast, British Columbia. Apart from being in business as an artist, Tien is also a Feng Shui consultant, performer, inspirational speaker, provides ‘kick ass’ Wizard and elemental coaching, and is working on his novel and a series of workshops, spreading the power and magick of Wizardry, harnessing the elements for a magickal life. His work has been shown at the Vancouver Art Gallery, USA, and Europe. Why I Do What I Do: I was born in Singapore in 1968. I was born a female into a mixed race, and class, fundamentalist Christian family; and my childhood was filled with fear, pain, abuse, unhappiness and confusion. In 1987, I came to Canada and had more years of struggles with family, immigration, finances, self-esteem and gender challenges. I was the first Asian transman to publicly transition in the Vancouver gay and lesbian community in 2001. I was incredibly lonely, self-hating, struggling in my new male gender and my business, and I was in debt. In 2009, I attempted suicide. The next morning, I had a hard talk with myself, ’Tien, live or die, it’s your choice. If you choose to live, promise me you will have loads of fun, otherwise go home to your maker.’ I decided to Live! Having experienced such depth of self-loathing, fear, pain and loss, I now know the heights of immense joy and freedom. This energy of joy, beauty and magick are in all that I do.
