A really captivating story about two 14-year-old girls in Berlin coming to terms with their emerging sexuality against the backdrop of life in multicultural Berlin with lots of great local color. Terrific, action-packed tale of teenage friendships and loyalties.
The writing is dull
I tried to force myself to continue reading this book but I just can't. It is too boring.
First of all, this book is written in monologue with no dialogues in it. When I read I don't feel the engagement with any of the characters in the book. And the writing is dull.
Secondly, the background of the story is at Berlin, Germany. Apart from the locally born kids, there are some migrants from Iraq and some other places. I know very little on the culture of any other of these places so I'm confused most of the time.
Lastly, the book is about a bunch of problematic kids who drink Tiger Milk (a kind of alcoholic drinks) and smoke cigarettes. The ending of the book might be good (I don't know as I do not bother to finish it) but as far as I read (about 80 pages), what they're doing in the book is still disturbing.
