Gone Fishing
The Brady Coyne series might not be one of the most complicated lawyer/detective series out there, but it is realistic. The everyday functions of the character are what any average individual can expect or want to do in the course of a working and non-working day. Even the social encounters are real and comfortable to the reader. One can easily identify the geography and the fishing is good. Tight Lines, by the way, is a fishing term. This 11th book of the series is the first where I noted that he pulled a bottle of Rebel Yell off the shelf. This liquor was so intriguing, to me, that I searched for it at a well stocked liquor store. I, at first, thought it was a fictional creation, but it does exist. Inspector Horowitz of the Massachusetts State Police also begins to become a standard in the Brady Coyne novels with this 11th episode. Evie, his steady squeeze in the later novels, has yet to make her appearance. Brady is still scrambling around with Gloria, his X, while searching for a new companion. If a reader gets tired of the latest psychodramas that have hit the shelves in recent months, I recommend this William Tapply series as a refreshing change of pace.

William G. Tapply mysteries are somewhat basic and sometimes the senerios may seem repetitive, but he more than makes up for whatever shortcomings the storyline may lack, with his descriptive knowledge of the local Boston area, where the mystery occurs. All-in-all, I find his books provide very entertaining reading.
