October 8, 2024 ~ Lucy Ann Lance talks with Tim Austin, Co-Owner and Kristy Vanderpool, Administrator of A&H Lawn Care. In response to Hurricane Helene, A&H Lawn Service, co-owned by Tim Austin and Kristy Vanderpool, initiated a community-driven supply delivery project. Starting with Tim’s desire to help, they partnered with local businesses and overcame challenges like road closures, using social media to rally support. Concerns were raised about ensuring financial donations reach trustworthy organizations, leading local businesses and churches to contribute essential items like cleaning supplies and food.

Tim’s effort expanded from a single truck to a semi-truck due to increased contributions, collaborating with the American Legion in Hendersonville for distribution. The focus has shifted to collecting winter clothing and canned goods, with an emphasis on gently used items and bulk food to simplify sorting. As temperatures drop, there is urgency for winter clothing, and a dedicated webpage provides donation logistics and drop-off details.
