09.18.2016 - By Matthew Tommasi: Ultramarathon Runner, Spiritual, Endurance
Tim Jarvis is an environmental scientist, author, adventurer, public speaker, Australian Adventurer of the Year (2012) and a Member of the Order of Australia.
Tim has undertaken many unsupported expeditions to some of the world's most remote regions including the North and South Poles, across Australia's largest desert, the Great Victoria Desert and kayaked across Australia's largest salt lake, Lake Eyre.
In this interview, Tim talks about leading the first authentic retracing, of polar explorer Sir Ernest Shackleton's "greatest survival journey of all time".
Tim and his crew sailed 1,500km from Elephant Island across the Southern Ocean to South Georgia, in a replica boat with no keel.
Then climbed over South Georgia's frozen mountainous interior using the same rudimentary equipment, period clothing and technology that Shackleton used 100 years ago.
