One of the key vital signs of any community is its local journalism, but as we have all heard, the newspaper industry has consolidated and retreated from much of rural America. Journalists and news outlets are now mainly concentrated in urban places. That has led to so many downstream effects - division, mistrust, and lack of accountability at the level of local leadership.
