Today, a Cabinet Minister will front the media and plead their innocence over the alleged 1988 rape of a 16-year-old girl. Being almost 100 per cent certain who the minister is, and having seen media reports about his earlier uncontested behaviour, it will be almost impossible to believe a word he says, or understand how the Prime Minister has stood by him. The PM is putting his faith in the wrong man.
